CEUs: 2.5

Instructor: Mary Theis

In this workshop, participants will utilize writing to explore who they are. The Proprioceptive Writing (PW) method will be used for this exploration. (PW is a method developed by Linda Metcalf and Tobin Simon).

Proprioceptive Writing is a way to clarify one’s thinking.   The three seemingly simple rules: Write what you hear; Listen to what you write, and Be ready to ask the Proprioceptive Question, are powerful tools to help us discover what we truly believe and know.

From a Jungian perspective, writing can help us get in touch with different aspects of the personality, such as persona and shadow. Participants will learn to look for those elements of personality in what they have written and learn how to distinguish the different thinking voices. Instruction will be given as to how to “listen to” the body sense (i.e., focusing) in the process. This work can help one move toward integrating aspects of the personality and discovering one’s unique self.

Participants will have the opportunity to read aloud what they have written and get feedback on how they might enter more deeply into their story.  No prior experience necessary.
