This film is an informative, rib-tickling, surprising and subversive comedy in which Michael Moore treks far and wide in an attempt to build America up in some amazingly novel and thought-provoking ways. As he investigates one idea after another during his travels, Moore discovers that many of the ideas originated in the U.S. Thus, the solutions he uncovers are a reclaiming of remedies that once belonged to us.
“Where to Invade Next” is really a fairy tale with a moral. Moore visits mostly European schools, workplaces, hospitals and prisons. The movie builds a crescendo showing America’s weakening social contract. It reveals the widening inequality gap, the disappearing middle class and a military-based economy. The film is rich in ideas that deserve to be discussed by liberals, conservatives, and anyone else who cares about the U.S. Optimistic and affirmative, it rests on one challenging but invaluable idea: We can do better!
