In astrology, the phrase “turning of the ages” refers to a transformational cycle of human civilization over a period of roughly 26,000 years. This cycle is divided into twelve sections, or ages, outlined by the apparent movement of the Spring Equinox through the sidereal Zodiac. In astronomy, this movement is referred to as “axial precession.”

Jung wrote about the “Pisces aeon,” in reference to the current Piscean Age. We are nearing the end of that period as we move into the Aquarian Age, a time that has been wildly theorized to be a golden age, as popularized by the song Dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

In this lecture, we will explore the turning of the ages, what Jung himself said about it, how Jungian archetypes inflect its meaning, and how the telos of the Aquarian Age is influencing the difficult events we see playing out in the world today.
