Humans have long been captivated by the forest and its creatures – both living and mythic. What is it about forests that captures our imagination and what can forests teach us about our own nature and place in the world? In this presentation, we journey deep into the forest to meet some of the more elusive creatures that reside beyond the reaches of ordinary life and civilization. Through art, film, journaling, and discussion, we explore manifestations of the witch and the Greek god Pan and how these archetypal figures help us to understand our own inner wilderness, fears, and relationship to the natural world. Employing Jung’s technique of active imagination we will engage the archetypal forest in a quest for enchantment, meaning, and insight.
