In this lecture, four archetypes will be discussed: The Lover, The Shadow, The Divine Child and The Senex. The focus will be how the energy of each archetype informs and organizes weekend retreats for men, offered by the group, VictoriesForMen. These retreats bring the archetypes out of the dyadic consultation room and into an enlivened group process container. The goal is to bridge the mind-body dichotomy, unifying it into a psychotherapeutic “somatic-psychological integrative” emotional experience. The end result is a transformative individual “victory” for each man; moving toward a healthier and more mature masculinity. Dr. Kachoris will share his wisdom and experience which comes from facilitating these meaningful weekends.

The information presented will be of interest to both men and women who want to understand these gender-neutral archetypes.   They are dynamic energies that inform and empower and, in a way, constellate themselves in the psyche of a human being and give him or her the direction and vitality to behave in their manifest world and in relationships infused by that Archetype.

About the Instructor
Paul J. Kachoris, MD, is a triple boarded certified child, adolescent, adult psychiatrist in the “original” practice of psychiatry: treating the whole person with both eclectic psychodynamic psychotherapy for the psyche (mind) and with psychotropic medications for the brain as needed.  He has been in continuous psychiatric practice for nearly fifty years.  During his professional career, he has held multiple clinical, educational, teaching, academic and administrative positions in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. Presently he devotes himself to his outpatient psychiatric practice, and pursuing his interests in poetry writing and publishing, the humanities, neuroscience, men’s studies and Victories of Heart/Victories for Men.
