This program is the first course in a series of stand-alone classes. Each class will focus on the ideas that form the core of Jung’s psychology, with particular attention to their dynamic and evolving nature.

This will not be a lecture class. People who love the pursuit and understanding of ideas, whether new to Jung or seasoned students, are welcome.

Jungian concepts will first be introduced and defined, followed by opportunities to explore them through participants’ own experiences. For example, as we may examine a concept, we will then explore how it contracts, expands, and changes, becoming increasingly aware of the inevitable shifts that occur within us, We believe that over time, through our own development and lived experience, we are continually being altered. Very little in Jung’s psychology can be understood deeply if it is treated as fixed or static. Each concept evolves as life affects and moves in us. In turn, we affect the life around us. For this reason, the classes will emphasize not only an understanding of Jungian ideas, but also their living, evolving nature. In this way, the exploration of Jungian psychology may parallel the process of our own understanding and appreciation of his ideas and ourselves.

About the Instructors
Laura McGrew is a Jungian Analyst in private practice in Chicago. She is the emeritus board chair of The C.G. Jung Center, and a tireless worker in and for the field of Analytical Psychology.

Ken James is a Jungian Analyst in private practice in Chicago. He is a training analyst with the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago and has served on the board of the institute.
