Instructors:  Sheri Reda

Starring Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando

A passionate young man who identifies as Don Juan has fallen into a deep depression after being unable to win the woman of his dreams. He comes under the care of an accomplished psychiatrist who is near retirement and is taking stock of his own, rather careful, journey. The psychiatrist has ten days in which to work with “Don Juan,” after which the young man will either be released or committed to a long-term stay in a mental hospital. In the course of treatment, the young man tells his story and introduces its archetypal main characters, many of whom tell their own conflicting versions of events. What is the truth? How should it be understood? Can Don Juan’s story be made to benefit both the young man and the older therapist who is determined to help him?
